Anyone who has ever experienced fishing for Chinook salmon for the first time will know the thrill of catching one of these enormous beasts. The adrenaline rush is pumping, along with the exhaustion of battling such a fish for several minutes. Here's Mario Alejandro battling his first Chinook, a female weighing about 17 kilos that fought to the bitter end.
This happened in the town of Cunco on the Allipén River at around 12 noon. Having already traveled a good stretch of the river without a bite, we were already thinking that the day would not have any important events, however, Mario, in one of those casts that made him think he would catch one, bites the lure, a #6 Spinner . It is here where time stops and becomes eternal for the angler. At first, he thought it was a tangled log since it was not moving and was only in the center of the river, but his amazement when he saw that the line began to move and tug. Mario shouted "I have one! I have one!" and we prepared to film this event. It was 4 minutes of extensive struggle, you can see the noticeable fatigue of one of the arms holding Mario's rod, but at all costs, the operation had to be completed with the capture of the first Chinook salmon of our lives. Let's see what happened then in this first battle.
